| Q: |
Will I have to have a X-ray? |
A: X-rays are not required for every patient. Dr. Flythe does a complete chiropractic and muscle assessment. After your examination, Dr. Flythe will let you know whether he needs to take X-rays or not. X-rays will provide a picture, especially after trauma to confirm his other findings and make your care more precise.
| Q: |
How long until I feel better? |
A: Often our patients experience instant relief; however, other individuals may discover that their healing process takes more time. Depending on the extent of your injuries, relief can take weeks, months, or sometimes years. Every patient recovers at his or her own pace. Age, overall health, muscle tone, diet, exercise, and even your attitude can vary the length of recovery time.
| Q: |
Are adjustments safe? |
A: YES! A New Zealand government study concluded that chiropractic adjustments are “remarkably safe.” Taking an over the counter pain reliever is about 100 times more risky. (Patient Media, 2006)
| Q: |
When will I get my first adjustment? |
A: It depends on your major health concern, and the extent of any possible injury. In most cases, our patients are able to receive an adjustment after Dr. Flythe assesses your condition and reviews the findings with you. This is a clinical decision that varies from patient to patient.
| Q: |
Will the adjustment make my spine too loose? |
A: No. Only the spinal joints that are ‘stuck’ receive adjustments. This allows the weakened muscles and ligaments to stabilize and heal (Patient Media 2006).
Q:
What do adjustments feel like? |
A: After some brief pressure on your spine, some patients may report increased mobility. Other patients have reported feeling calm, relaxed, and an overall sense of well-being. With knowledge of over ten different techniques, Dr. Flythe specializes in making adjustments comfortable for you.
Q:
What makes the sound? |
A: Bones in your spine are separated by lubricating fluids. Sometimes an adjustment may produce a sound, which is just gas and fluids shifting within the joints. It’s like opening a soda can, or removing a suction cup. The change in pressure allows increased mobility where the joint was previously ‘stuck’. Although it may be interesting, the sound isn’t a guide to the quality or value of the adjustment.
Q:
Will I receive medication for my spine? |
A: No. Chiropractic doctors do not dispense pharmaceutical drugs. We rely on natural methods to heal the body. Dr. Flythe is happy to instruct you how to use ice to control any painful symptoms. When ice is applied properly it can have an analgesic effect without the adverse reaction associated with pain medications. Dr. Flythe does offer natural supplementation to assist with decreasing pain and inflammation.
Q:
Is it ok for my friend to crack my back or pop my neck? |
A: I know; I was there at one time too. It seems like a Chiropractor just makes it crack and you wonder why you can’t just do it at home. The very simple key is this: SPECIFICITY. When a bone moves out of place it does so in a very specific manner. The problem when you do it yourself is that you have no idea where it was and no idea where you just put it! Believe it or not one vertebra moves very differently from a vertebra only 2 or 3 segments away. Vertebrae are very oddly-shaped structures and when your Chiropractor was in school, he or she was brutalized with extensive study of vertebral anatomy and how each of them moves! Thus it is very dangerous to do it yourself!

How can you treat Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? |
A: There are 3 main nerves to the hand. True Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) arises when the median nerve becomes compressed at the level of the wrist. There are only two causes for CTS. Either a decrease in the size of the space the nerve passes through or an increase in the size of the contents of the space. Although splints and medications have proven helpful, they do not address the true cause, thus re-occurrence is likely. I use a combination of specialized adjustments, cold laser therapy and rehabilitative exercises to address the true cause of the dysfunction and prevent re-occurrence.

| Q: |
How can you help with Ankle Injuries? |
A: There are a number of treatments that we can provide depending on the cause of your pain. If the pain is due to a trauma you need to have it evaluated and you will likely need an x-ray to check for a fracture. Pain often indicates that there is some kind of problem with the biomechanics of your motion. We offer several ways to address such a problem ranging from custom orthotics & specialized extremity adjusting to soft tissue therapy and rehabilitation. Treatment of any foot pain should include the common RICE therapy. So try to get off that sore foot and get some ice on it.
As a Sports Chiropractor, I put a lot of focus on ankle injuries. You don’t run into many people who have just rolled their ankle once or twice. Once the ankle is sprained, the ligaments are more lax and the bones move out of place. As the ligaments heal, if the bones haven’t been returned to their normal position, their malposition will lead to future ankle sprains.

Ionic Footbath Detoxification Questions & Answers
Q:
Do I really have toxins in my body? How did they get there? |
A: Yes, toxins accumulate in our bodies from many things in the environment around us. Fertilizers and chemicals are used to grow the food that we eat every day, the cars we drive put pollutants in the air, on other chemicals and man-made items all around us. We are constantly around these toxins, taking them into our bodies. These toxins continue to build and it is necessary to flush them from our system.
Q:
What do toxins do to my body? |
A: As toxins accumulate, they cause imperfections such as pain, sickness, poor health, disease and fatigue. Our immune systems are not strong enough to combat the toxins we face, so these toxins will wear us down. Removing the toxins from our bodies can improve health and wellness overall.
Q:
Why should I detoxify? |
A: Removing toxins from your body through detoxification allows your body to heal itself without the block of the toxins. You may feel more energized, less pain, have better circulation and an improved immune system. Because everyone's body is different, your results may differ from others.
Q:
How do I remove these toxins? |
A: There are several different procedures to remove toxins from your body. One of the most effective parts of your body is to focus on the feet- the feet are one of the most sensitive parts of the body and contain many acupuncture points and nerve endings, so it is an ideal place to remove toxins. The reflex points in your feet are connected to the entire body. In addition, your body will naturally send toxins to your feet because it is the furthest point from the heart. Using heat to open the pores, you can apply natural ingredients to pull the toxins from the body. Detoxifying foot baths are ideal for this process, because you can relax while the process is taking place and then feel more healthy and rejuvenated.
Q:
How often should I detoxify? |
A: It depends on how much toxin has built up in your body. Many people follow a regimen of foot detoxifying once a week, but some people need it more than that in the beginning. Look at the color of the discharge in the water of your detoxifying foot bath-- if the color is dark and thick then your body pushed out a lot of toxins. Continue to follow the detoxification process until the color lightens up.
Q:
Are detoxification footbaths safe? |
A: Detoxification foot baths are very safe to use-- they do not put any chemicals into your body. The detoxifying foot bath does not contain any chemicals, you only use salt water that is ionically charged to complete this process.
Q:
Do I need to use the detoxification footbath with both feet? |
A: To get the greatest benefits from the bath you should place both feet in the water. If you only use one foot you are not maximizing your pressure points, it is more effective to place both foot in the bath.
Q:
Why am I in more pain or fatigued after my first detoxification? |
A: If you are using the detoxification foot bath to help alleviate joint pain, you may find that your joints are a little tender after the first detoxification session. Or you may find that you are more tired than normal. Different bodies react to healing in different ways-- your body is just trying to pull the toxins from the affected areas. This discomfort is tolerable and will pass within a couple days-- especially if you continue to use the detoxification foot bath.
