Chiropractic
The term ‘Chiropractic’ is derived from Greek words meaning ‘done by hand.’ Doctors of Chiropractic are concerned with how the body's nerves, muscles, and joints function as a whole. They focus on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the body. They specialize in manipulations of the joints to improve range of motion, flexibility, and to restore proper function. Chiropractic is one of the most popular alternative therapies currently available. Some would say it now qualifies as mainstream treatment as opposed to complementary medicine. Chiropractic treatment is now covered by many insurance plans. It has become a very well-accepted treatment for acute pain and problems of the spine, including low back pain and whiplash.

Dr. Flythe is experienced in treating the causes of low back pain, neck pain, headache, shoulder pain, wrist pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow and foot pain.

Spinal Anatomy
Your spinal cord is made up of billions of nerves that begin in the brain, extend down your back, and branch out to every part of your body. The delicate spinal cord is protected by the spinal column, 33 rings of bone called vertebrae. The vertebrae are stacked up upon one another and connected by muscle, tendons and ligaments to not only keep your spinal cord safe, but to provide flexibility. A healthy spine will maintain the health of your central nervous system, support your body and keep you moving through your day.
There are five sections of the spinal column:
1. Cervical (7 Neck Vertebrae)
2. Thoracic (12 Mid-Back Vertebrae)
3. Lumbar (5 Low-Back Vertebrae)
4. Sacral (5 Fused Vertebrae that connect the Hips)
5. Coccyx (4 Fused Vertebrae that create your Tailbone)

SERVICES PROVIDED TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR CONDITIONS AND OTHERS

The Chiropractic Adjustment
The goal of chiropractic adjustment is to remove vertebral subluxations (misalignments). Subluxations are removed by a series of specific chiropractic adjustments. When giving an adjustment, the doctor applies pressure in a specific location, in a precise direction, at an appropriate time with the intent of restoring proper alignment.

Physiotherapy
To complement and enhance the healing effects of specific chiropractic adjustment treatments, we also provide the following physiological therapeutic procedures:
• Ultrasound
• Mechanical traction
• Moist heat therapy
• Therapeutic Exercise and Stretching
• Core Stabilization
• Interferential electrical muscle stimulation
• Cryotherapy
• Paraffin bath
• Cold Laser Therapy
• Massage and Trigger Point Therapy

Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, and joints. Massage therapy helps alleviate the soft tissue discomfort associated with everyday and occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions. If employed early enough after accidents involving trauma and injury, massage therapy can greatly reduce the development of painful muscular patterning.

Our Massage Therapist is fully trained to help relieve:
• Inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and tendinitis
• Stress relief and associated conditions
• Headaches and migraines
• Muscle and related conditions such as spasms, strains and sprains
• Sports Injuries
• Back pain
• Repetitive strain injury
• Circulatory and respiratory problems
• Pregnancy and labor discomfort
• Post-injury and post surgical rehabilitation

X-Ray
X-rays are safe and effective for people of all ages, even young children. X-rays are particularly useful for examining the bones, joints, and chest. Dr. Flythe may recommend an x-ray for many different reasons. For example, an X-ray exam may be used to:
• Determine whether a bone is subluxated, dislocated, or fractured
• Evaluate joint injuries and bone infections
• Diagnose and monitor the progression of degenerative conditions, such as arthritis and the bone-thinning disease osteoporosis
• Determine whether you have injured a disk in your spine
• Detect scoliosis, an abnormal curvature of the spine, and other spinal defects

Low Level Laser Therapy
This modality is scientifically suggested for pain relief and treatment of rheumatic arthritis, arthritis, osteoarthritis, wound healing, tissue repair, and neuromuscular re-education. It also relieves many acute and chronic conditions, migraine headaches, back pain, sport injuries, and strained muscles. LLLT is a non-invasive alternative to prescription or over the counter medication with no reported side effects.

How Does Low Level Laser Therapy Work?
Low level lasers supply energy to the body in the form of non-thermal photons of light. Light waves in the near infrared ranges penetrate the skin deepest of all waves in the visible spectrum.
Low level laser light waves penetrate deeply into the skin with both anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects.
• Physiological Effects or Benefits
• Bio-stimulation, improved metabolism, increase of cell metabolism
• Improved blood circulation
• Analgesic effect (Decrease Pain)
• Anti-inflammatory and anti-edematous effect
• Stimulation of wound healing

Percussion Therapy
Vibracussor percussion therapy is an exciting new treatment approach for muscle and ligament problems and related myofascial conditions. The Vibracussor is used by many professional sports teams to enhance rehabilitation and help reduce pain and discomfort among their top players.

The Vibracussor delivers waves of percussive impulses deep into the tissues of the body. These percussion waves promote an increase in circulation and lymphatic flow and a decrease in muscle spasm. Vibracussor therapy is very effective for relaxing muscles. It can be used to warm up muscles and setting proper tonus prior to athletic events. It can also be used following an event or exercise to flush muscles and minimize soreness. The Vibracussor is also highly effective in treating fascial restrictions of the shoulder, hip, and knee joints. It often helps frozen shoulders become mobile in just a few visits. What’s more, it is also very helpful with scars and adhesions associated with surgery.
